ROME (ITALPRESS) – Symbioz, the C-segment SUV launched by Renault, can also count on the E-Tech full hybrid 145 powertrain, which is very efficient and economical to use, and offers all the comfort and quietness of electric driving in the city, with no recharging constraints. With Renault’s E-Tech full hybrid technology, drivers can count on minimal fuel consumption for most journeys, with little dispersion between driving modes. E-Tech full hybrid technology, for which more than 150 patents have been filed and which can rely on Renault’s experience in Formula 1, especially at the level of regeneration and energy recovery, offers dynamism and efficiency. Its so-called “series-parallel” hybrid architecture includes two electric motors (a 36 kW e-motor and an 18 kW HSG-type High-Voltage Starter Generator) and a 1.6-liter, 94-horsepower 4-cylinder gasoline combustion engine, coupled with an intelligent multimode transmission with clutchless tooth engagement and a 1.2 kWh battery. The transmission has 4 ratios for the gasoline engine and 2 ratios for the main electric motor. The E-Tech full hybrid 145 engine thus offers up to 14 possible operating combinations between the heat engine and electric motor for optimized energy efficiency. Starting is always in electric mode, and it is possible to drive in the city up to 80% of the time in 100% electric mode, with fuel consumption reductions of up to 40% in the urban cycle compared to classic gasoline thermal engines. On the highway, the architecture of the powertrain allows the thermal engine to drive the wheels directly, without the losses that consist of unnecessarily running electric motors, as is the case with classic hybrid systems. Renault’s technology allows Symbioz to record the best fuel consumption under all circumstances, with an estimated WLTP cycle of 4.6 l/100 km. Since launch, the powertrain has never stopped being optimized, especially at the software management level, to improve fuel consumption and comfort of use, especially on the highway. Just as on the new Clio and the new Captur, Symbioz also features the new E-Save function, which is activated by pressing a button located to the left of the steering wheel. E-Save makes it possible to improve driving comfort and optimize fuel consumption by keeping the battery charge level at a minimum of 40 percent, so that you can always count on enough electric power to tackle climbs without loss of speed and to overtake by relying only on the electric motor, without stressing the heat engine. It also avoids abrupt gear downshifts, often perceived as a source of unpleasant noise emissions. With E-Save activated, it reduces by 30 to 40 percent the number of forced downshifts that can achieve the undesirable effect of revving up the engine in highway use. Symbioz can, in addition, rely on predictive hybrid driving, which allows the maximum use of electrical energy over thermal energy, benefiting fuel economy. This feature is based on data from connected maps (Google Maps) and takes into account topography (climbs, descents, etc.), travel time and traffic. This data is processed in advance by the battery management system to make maximum use of electric traction energy. A driving report in the form of a histogram detailing fuel consumption and distance traveled in 100% electric mode is available.
