ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Stefano Cesaretto will be the new Technical Selector of the Italian national jumping obstacles. The federal president, heard the Council of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports, has entrusted to him, from 1 January next and for the seasons 2026 and 2027, the guide of the official teams and the responsibility of all the activity of the senior sector for the discipline of the jump obstacles.
Born in Brescia, where he began to mount on horseback, he immediately moved to the Circolo Ippico Castellazzo, becoming one of the students of the great Graziano Mancinelli. A master of excellence in the jumping of obstacles, his competitive career recorded successes already at youth level with the participation in the European Under-21 Championships in 1985 in Donaueschingen (Germany). Just 22 years old, the following year, he is the winner of the prestigious Queen’s Cup, inserted in the international competition of Barcelona in Spain.
As a senior, he has a brilliant career with the tricolor, with the victory of many international Grand Prix, the participation in several Nations Cups, the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm (Sweden) in 1990 and the European Championships in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1989.
Cesaretto will be at work from 1 January 2026 not only, as anticipated, in the quality of Selector, but also actively collaborating with the Federation’s Sports Direction to the organization and management of the senior activity of the jump obstacles, identifying, among other things, the appointments to which the blue will take part during the season, authorizing the participation of the Italian knights and amazons to international events in Italy and abroad or taking part in internships, competitions.
“There is great enthusiasm – commented Cesaretto – because I want to make available to the Federation and Italian teams everything that I have been able to learn and demonstrate in recent years. One of the first things I will do as a Selector will be to contact all athletes to have with all athletes a direct and constant relationship, so as to be able to broaden the group and opportunities for our national team”.
The new Selector then focused on the objectives. “I believe – he added – that the most important to achieve is that of the Olympic qualification of the team (first World Opportunities of Aachen in Germany in 2026 ndr.). I will work to grow the group, keeping the group together, which has already proved to be at the highest level, but at the same time to and allow others to grow to allow to be able to count on a larger rose for the next European Championships of 2027 (Waregem, Belgium ndr.)”.
To the words of satisfaction of the new Selector echo those of the federal president, Marco Di Paola. “I’m sure – said the number one of the FISE – that we could not make better choice. It is necessary to continue the positive work of Marco Porro and Stefano is a serious professional who has already demonstrated over the years the organizational and managerial ability and great qualities not only of technical, but also of high-level knight. In these years he has been a reference point for the Blue Team, as a trainer of his wife and athlete Giulia Martinengo Marquet. Now to him the honour of leading our national team with the wish for good work, also on behalf of the Federal Council. I’m sure we will achieve great goals together.”.
