Romania, Mutiu “Partnership with Confindustria strengthens university.”

BUCAREST (ROMANIA) (ITALPRESS) – An ancient university, with more than 400 years of history, but extremely modern in its ability to network with other universities and businesses. It is the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania, as told by Vice Rector Alexandra Mutiu in an interview with Claudio Brachino on the occasion of the opening of the Italpress news agency’s correspondence office in Bucharest. “We are very proud to be the largest university in Romania, and this year we celebrate 443 years. We were founded in 1581. We started as a Latin university. Then following the track of history, we became a German university, then a Hungarian university, and now we have become Romanian. We have three official languages: Romanian, Hungarian and German. We have about 45,000 students, both Romanian and foreign, spread across 14 campuses. “Our role is to support innovation and education, but the mission is also to build a stronger community around our students,” stresses the vice chancellor, who explains the importance of partnerships, “We are part of two consortia, we manage excellent relations with other universities in Romania. But we are also part of the European consortium, the Utopia Alliance, and of the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. “An important partnership for the university is the one with Confindustria Romania, a relationship “built on trust,” emphasizes Mutiu. “Italian companies based in Romania have joined us for several projects, such as Vino Acasa (“Come Home,” ed.), a program in which we have a very important role: not necessarily educating those who return, but helping them rebuild their lives here. With Confindustria Romania we are also collaborating in a research on the Mediterranean diet, to help people have a healthier life. With another project we are supporting students from disadvantaged areas. We also collaborate for the Leonardo da Vinci Excellence Centre, founded by Babes-Bolyai University and Confindustria, in Cluj-Napoca, in one of our spaces.”
