Round table on disability with the Locatelli ministra at the ICIUK headquarters in London

LONDRA (ITALPRESS) – In the headquarters of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the United Kingdom (ICCIUK), in London, a round table was held organized by the General Consulate of Italy, dedicated to the main challenges and opportunities of the support system for Italian citizens with disabilities resident in the United Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Disability, Alessandra Locatelli, together with representatives of the institutions, the world of education, health and the third sector, in an open and constructive confrontation on the existing criticalities and possible strategies for improvement. Among the present, representatives of the Italian Embassy in London, the Comites and associations and beneficent realities such as The Circle, Medical Charity and We Are Stronger Charity.

Particularly significant is the contribution of some direct testimonies, which shared personal experiences, offering a concrete insight into the daily difficulties and needs of Italian people with disabilities in the UK. Among the themes addressed: access to support services, differences between Italian and British systems, bureaucratic and linguistic obstacles and the fundamental role of associations in filling institutional gaps and providing practical assistance to families.

“The initiative was an important occasion for dialogue between institutions and civil society, with the aim of strengthening support networks and promoting greater inclusion of Italian citizens with disabilities abroad,” reads in a note. The General Consulate of Italy in London reiterated its commitment “to continue the confrontation with all stakeholders, to identify effective and sustainable solutions capable of responding to the needs of the community”.
