Salvini “If Starlink connects half the world why say no?”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “I do not make the agenda of Musk and President Mattarella, but it would be a stimulating meeting.” This is how Vice-Premier and Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini, on the sidelines of an event in the Prefecture in Milan, comments on the possibility of a meeting between Elon Musk and the Head of State, linked to the possible use of Starlink in Italy.

“I don’t decide whether technology A or technology B is better,” Salvini added, “but if Starlink connects half the world, I don’t see why the left should prejudicially say no just because it’s Musk’s. When it comes to national security, likes and dislikes should stay off the table.”

The League leader also commented on Tajani’s interview with Corriere della Sera: “I respect the ideas of my colleague in Foreign Affairs, but I think those who have been using warlike tones for years, like the French president, should be more careful. When you talk lightly about sending troops, nuclear umbrellas, weapons and war, you have to be careful. I am not so much interested in tone, but in substance.”

Finally, on the EU’s relations with Russia: “When the conflict ends, reknitting trade, cultural, economic and energy relations with Russia will be an interest of all of Europe. There is a minister who is in charge of gas, which is not me, so ask him. We were told until recently that Russia was on its knees, now it seems that the Russians are invading Rome and Milan,” he concluded.
