Scholarships, MUR and Regions approve additional resources 2025-2026. Bernini “An investment on the future of the country”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Ministry of University and Research has completed, in agreement with the Regions, the allocation of additional European resources equal to 150 million euros for university scholarships for the academic year 2025/2026. The resources, authorized by the Council of the European Union in the context of the revision of the PNRR approved last November, were distributed following the favourable opinion expressed by the Conference State Regions.

This is the second consecutive academic year for which the Ministry obtains additional funding from the European Commission compared to those originally foreseen in PNRR Italy, confirming a structural strengthening of public commitment in support of the right to university study.

“The scholarships are a concrete investment in the future of the country. They strengthen a system that supports worthy students, promotes equity and contributes to making the university increasingly accessible and inclusive,” says the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.

Thanks to these resources, the total amount of funds allocated by MUR to university scholarships reaches 708 million euros. The 150 million euros PNRR are in fact added to the ordinary resources of the supplementary State Fund for scholarships (FIS), pairs to approximately 558 million euros, already entirely assigned: EUR 431 million for payment in June 2025 and EUR 127 million recently launched. The allocation of resources will allow the Regions and the institutions for the right to study to proceed to the award of the status of scholarship winner to a wider number of students, concretely strengthening the right to university study. The distribution decree was formalized by the Ministry and will be published pending the evaluation of the control bodies. The Ministry of University and Research highlights the value of work shared with the Regions, which in recent years has allowed more timely and effective management of resources for the right to study.
