Serie A: Napoli takes sole lead in the standings

After six rounds of Serie A, Napoli now sits alone at the top of the standings. A 2-0 victory over Monza propelled Conte’s team to the summit, with first-half goals from Politano and Kvaratskhelia. The record from their last five matches is remarkable, especially considering they opened the season with a crushing 3-0 defeat to Verona: 4 wins, 1 draw, 11 goals scored, and only 1 conceded.

Juventus maintains Di Gregorio’s unbeaten streak, remaining the only team in Europe’s top leagues yet to concede a goal. A commanding 3-0 win away at Genoa was secured thanks to a brace from the rejuvenated Vlahovic and a final goal from Conceicao.

The season’s first loss came for surprise team Torino, as they fell 3-2 at home to Lazio. This defeat allowed both Milan clubs to catch up with Torino at 11 points. Milan extended their winning streak, which began at home against Venezia, by beating Lecce 3-0 at San Siro, while Inter returned to winning form with Lautaro’s brace securing a 2-0 victory over Udinese.

Udinese, now suffering back-to-back losses after a surprising start, was caught in the standings at 10 points by both Empoli and Lazio. Empoli, led by D’Aversa, continued their unbeaten season with a lackluster 0-0 draw against Fiorentina, in a game lacking in excitement but maintaining their streak of six unbeaten matches.

Roma secured their second consecutive league victory, climbing to 9 points in the standings. The home match against former manager Di Francesco’s Venezia proved more challenging than expected. After a poor first half, the Giallorossi found themselves trailing, but they turned the game around in the second half with the help of substitutes Baldanzi and Pisilli. Pisilli, having just turned 20, scored the winning goal, adding another chapter to Roma’s history of youth talent. The local-born player is the latest success story of a Roman and Romanista achieving his dream of playing for his beloved club.

Atalanta continues to struggle under Gasperini, managing only a 1-1 draw against Bologna despite playing with an extra man for most of the second half. Samardzic’s 90th-minute goal saved them from an even worse fate, but their season remains in the red, with only one win in their last five matches.

Tonight at 8:45 PM CET, Parma will face Cagliari at the Tardini. This is already a crucial relegation battle, especially for Nicola’s Cagliari, who have only managed to collect 2 points in their first five matches.
