Serie A: wins for Milan and Napoli, away draws for Juventus, Roma, and Inter

Serie A returned this weekend with surprises ahead of today’s matches Parma-Udinese and Lazio-Verona, which will close out the fourth round of the Championship. Juventus was held to a second consecutive 0-0 draw on Saturday, this time against Empoli, after their goalless home match with Roma. The game saw few scoring chances for the Bianconeri, who seem to have lost the spark of the first two matchdays.

Roma was stopped at a draw on Genoa’s field. After dominating the first half with numerous chances and a goal from Dovbyk, De Rossi’s men lost ground and confidence in the second half, only to concede a last-minute equalizer from De Winter in stoppage time. Inter, the reigning champions, also faltered away, drawing with Monza. Nesta’s team came close to victory after an evenly contested match. Monza took the lead with Dany Mota 10 minutes from the end, but Dumfries saved Inter from defeat with an 88th-minute goal.

Milan and Napoli secured decisive wins. The Rossoneri triumphed 4-0 over Venezia on Saturday, in a match that was all but decided by the half-hour mark, with goals from Hernandez, Fofana, Pulisic, and Abraham. Napoli, under Conte, earned a resounding victory on the difficult field of Cagliari, with Lukaku, their new signing, the standout performer with a goal and two assists in their 4-0 away win.

Sunday afternoon in Bergamo saw a thrilling match, with Atalanta coming from behind to defeat Fiorentina. All five goals were scored in the first half, with Palladino’s side taking the lead twice, only to be undone by a late Lookman goal in first-half stoppage time, sealing a 3-2 victory for Atalanta.
