PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – ever faster and more effective rescue interventions, new life-saving technologies and increased management of maxi emergencies. These are the themes dealt with by the President of Seus 118, Riccardo Castro, who in an interview with Italpress has outlined a balance sheet of current activities and the latest news. The focus is on the implementation of the new medical monitor-defibrillators. “We have acquired the LIFEPAK 35 – he explained -. These are the latest generation electromedical models of defibrillators able to provide through a modern intuitive platform a model of diagnostic decision as more reliable and timely, fundamental for what is our mission of emergency-emergency. We are among the first in Italy to be able to take advantage of this important tool of last generation. These defibrillators will gradually replace the current ones. For our part, of course, there is the greatest satisfaction in this sense.” I LIFEPAK 35 are a highly advanced technological equipment designed to operate in complex emergency contexts: large and high-definition touchscreen, clinical decision-making tools, advanced ECG monitoring and systems designed to reduce intervention times and cognitive load of operators. The robustness of the device and prolonged autonomy make them particularly suitable for use on rescue vehicles. In addition to technological innovation, a central role is covered by information and awareness-raising activities in Sicilian schools, with the campaign dedicated to 118 and the Single Issue of Emergency 112, now in the third edition. “This- underlines Castro- was my idea that I wanted to put in place since the first day of settlement as president of the SEUS: It is something that I believe so much because I believe that information and awareness on issues such as NUE 112 and 118 should be absorbed as sponges especially by the younger ones, who will be the society of tomorrow. We have involved thousands of pupils and students, aware that the first relief call can start from anyone. Moreover, I would like to emphasize that from the single emergency number of Calabria have praised our project and wanted to meet us because they want to emulate this initiative in Calabrian schools”. Finally, a look at the recent emergency caused by the cyclone Harry, who hit hard different areas of Sicily, testing the entire rescue system. “The SEUS believes so much in the strengthening of the structure dedicated to maxi emergencies. Today climate events have changed, they are much more important and so the fact that help is strengthened shows that the path is the right one.” The president of the Seus 118 then gave thanks to the staff, in recent days particularly involved in the light of the wave of bad weather triggered by the cyclone Harry. “I repeat a great embrace to all “my boys” who have not soothing psychophysical efforts at these difficult times to deal with. I want to quote, for example, the episode that involved two rescuers in Santa Teresa di Riva: despite an ambulance accident caused by Ciclone Harry remained in service, showing a spirit of service that has no equal and that unites all the operators of the emergency-emergency 118 of Sicily”.
