PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – After the great success of the previous edition, the information campaign in Sicilian schools promoted by Seus returns. The goal of the initiative, illustrated at the headquarters of the regional Health Department and aimed at students from elementary to high school, is twofold: to educate them and raise their awareness on the correct and responsible use of 118 and the single emergency number 112, and to spread the culture of respect for health workers from childhood to adolescence. “Last school year we had the adherence of about 6,000 students,” said Riccardo Castro, president of Seus 118. “Therefore, we decided to renew this initiative, always in synergy with the regional Health Department and the prefectures. It is very important to make clear and understandable even to the youngest the functioning of “NUE 112″ and 118. A child or teenager who learns the correct way to call for help will be able to save the lives of others and possibly even himself. In addition, with simple but effective language, our operators will help to spread from the school benches the culture of respect for the drivers-rescue workers and more generally towards all health workers, who deserve praise and certainly not the aggressions that unfortunately sometimes happen. “The information campaign is based on sessions with the help of educational videos, slides and cartoons, on the simulation of a rescue call and on the explanation of the functioning of the 112 App “Where ARE U”. The learning is structured in a highly experiential and dynamic manner, calibrating it according to the age of the pupils/students. Schools that would like to join can send a Pec to formazione@pec.nue112sicilia.it. “Everything about healthcare must be communicated to today’s youth, that is, to future adults,” said Giovanna Volo, regional councillor for Health. Initiatives such as this serve to explain well when it is necessary to contact the “NUE 112″ and 118 and how it should be done correctly. “For Marcello Li Vigni, technical director of the Regional School Office, “this is an important awareness campaign, in fact, it is essential from school age to spread the culture of respect for the work carried out by drivers-rescue workers to protect the community.” Palermo’s deputy prefect Fabio Sanfilippo stressed that “the importance of all initiatives that help to spread knowledge among young people about NUE 112 and 118 and the respect and protection of health workers.”
