MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Italy won the bronze medal in the men’s bracket 5000 meters in Milan- Cortina 2026. Excellent evidence by Pietro Sighel (Fiamme Gialle), Thomas Nadalini (Fiamme Oro), Luca Spechenhauser (Carabiniere) and Andrea Cassinelli (Fiamme Gialle) who closed their test with the time of 6:52.35.
The blues confirm therefore the bronze obtained four years ago in Beijing (Sighel and Cassinelli the two veterans): it was a race managed in the first part – 45 laps in total -, in half race Italy took to the head trying to dictate the rhythm and beginning a head to head with Holland. In the last five laps the race has changed, Sighel has risked to fall but remained standing, mad the final overtaking for the second position, but in the last lap the Holland has placed in the head winning the gold medal. Silver for South Korea, outside the podium Canada, Olympic champion in charge.
The blues celebrated the bronze greeting the public and waving the tricolor. For Sighel, Spechenhauser and Nadalini is the second Olympic medal after gold in the mixed relay.
FONTANA E SIGHEL IN FINALE DEI 1500 METRI
It will be two Italians in the final of 1,500 meters of the short track. Arianna Fontana performs his task with an extremely intelligent semi-final, managing the race and closing second with the time of 2.29.512 behind South Korean Kim Gilli. Arianna Sighel also qualifies, in the race in the fastest series: this allows her to advance as better third, with the time of 2.21.120. Out instead Elisa Confortola, involved in a fall in the most chaotic semifinals: the blue is advanced by office in the final B, but will not dispute the race (to seven) for the medals.
