PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – The Regional Health Department is pushing on the accelerator for the reshaping of Sicily’s hospital network and urges each Health Authority to submit its proposal by Nov. 5. The ultimatum in a letter that the councillor, Giovanna Volo, and the director general of the council office, Salvatore Iacolino, sent to the directors of the health authorities and entities of the regional health system, as well as for information to the president of the region, Renato Schifani, and the VI Socio-Health Committee of the Ars. In the missive, it is recalled that “the members of the Technical Table for the preparation of the proposed remodeling of the hospital network have been appointed, in which the representatives of the accredited private-law facilities and contracted with the regional health system (Acop, Aiop, Aris) also participate.” In addition, “at the same time, in order to speed up the timetable for the definition of the remodulation of the hospital network in force, meetings were held with the individual companies, in order to allow the strategic managements to present outline proposals on the new organizational structure of each company. At the meeting,” the letter reads, “a deadline of October 31 was agreed upon for the acquisition of a ‘technical basis’ for each individual Company, to be submitted to the Technical Table and to the offices of this administration for the elaboration of the assessorial proposal for the remodulation of the regional hospital network, which, of course, will take into account the current national and regional regulations and ministerial guidelines. This proposal will be the subject of the subsequent joint comparison with the provincial conferences of mayors and with all the stakeholders provided for by the current legislation, according to a timetable established by this councilor; as a result of these comparisons, this administration will proceed to elaborate the final text to be submitted to the VI commission of the Ars for the prescribed opinion and, finally, to the flanking ministries.
