LONDRA (UK) (ITALPRESS) – The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in London between the Italian Export Forum and the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK. The signing took place in the presence of Roberto Costa, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK and Lorenzo Zurino, President of the Italian Forum of Export. The agreement will start a three-year partnership structured to strengthen, promote and expand Made in Italy in the UK through training, networking, market access, events and advocacy activities.
The parties undertake to develop joint initiatives such as kermesse, roadshow, institutional missions, B2B meetings and training programmes for enterprises, managers and professionals export. In addition, coordinated activities of stakeholders engagement, public affairs and strategic communication, as well as studies, research and observers on Made in Italy in the UK, aiming to give continuity and depth to promotion.
“We are satisfied – says Lorenzo Zurino, president of the Italian Export Forum – to consolidate us on a key square like London, becoming institutional partners from the main Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UK. We intend to offer concrete help for Italian companies and Made in Italy as an international hub for companies that want to enter or grow in the UK market, with a joint direction with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in London.”.
The key areas of the agreement will be manufacturing, agribusiness, services and innovation, with targeted initiatives in the three years. After the UK’s release from the European Union (Brexit), the business relationship between Italy and the UK has changed, but remains strategic for many sectors of Made in Italy. The United Kingdom is among the top 5 target markets for Italian exports and despite post-Brexit customs and regulatory barriers, the value of Italian exports to the UK is growing. In 2024 Italian exports to the United Kingdom amounted to around €27 billion, with an increase of 5% compared to the previous year. The agribusiness, in particular, has become the first category of Italian export to the United Kingdom.
“The data confirms the solidity of bilateral economic relations and the Italian manufacturing estate, despite a more articulated regulatory framework – reads in a note of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK. The Brexit has engraved mainly on the bureaucratic level, but without creating structural blocks for trade. In an international scenario characterized by geopolitical uncertainty, the United Kingdom – and London in particular – continues to represent a strategic hub between Europe, the Middle East and Western markets, offering concrete opportunities especially for Italian SMEs. In this context, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom strengthens its role of accompaniment to enterprises, with a structured plan of initiatives for 2026 that includes institutional events, operational workshops and networking between Italian and British companies, a plan in which the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding falls.
