Sinner wins the round of 16 in Shanghai, beats Etcheverry

SHANGHAI (CHINA) (ITALPRESS) – Jannik Sinner advanced to the round of 16 in the Rolex Shanghai Masters, the Atp 1000 tournament staged on the hard court of China’s economic capital (with prize money of $8,995,555). The Italian struggled not a little but eventually got the better of the excellent Argentine Tomás Martìn Etcheverry, No. 31 in the Atp rankings.
Sinner, less brilliant than usual, committed several errors and was forced to surrender at tie-break 7-6(3) in the first set. In the second Jannik redeemed himself and won 6-4, although the Argentine did not give up and continued to express himself at a good level. The gap was sharper in the third set with Sinner winning 6-2.
In the round of 16 Sinner will face one between Ben Shelton (16), who stopped him in the round of 16 last year, and Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (54).
