PISA (ITALPRESS) – This morning in Pisa, in Piazza dei Miracoli, during the ceremony of the passing of the Olympic flashlight, the kindness of Special Olympics, a reality that promotes inclusion and respect through sport, creating a welcoming world where each person is valued, was awarded. It was, in fact, presented the Building Kindness in Sport Award for sports and inclusion projects on stage with the presence of Claudia Maiorano, Special Olympics director. The Award, the brainchild of Gaia Simonetti, ambassador of kindness and secretary Ussi Toscana, is a kind of investiture of ambassador of kindness in sport and consists of the delivery of a shirt, designed by children and enhances gestures of the heart and kindness through sport. Presenting the award were the ambassadors of the national project Let’s Build Kindness, Gaia Simonetti (also Ussi Tuscany secretary) and Germana Delle Canne. The award was proposed by the pupils of the IC V.Galilei of Pisa, the first kindness-building school community, who will participate in the event. The Let’s Build Kindness in Sport Award, created three years ago, was inspired by the heartfelt gesture of Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who was among the first to welcome and host a family that had fled the war. The award was presented, among others, to Federica Cappelletti, wife of Paolo Rossi for sports and inclusion projects; to Anna Astori, in memory of her son Davide and his commitment to social work; to Coach Ranieri, at Tennis Giotto of Arezzo for sports and inclusion projects and for the red bench, a symbol of the fight against all forms of violence against women; to Manuel Pasqual for his commitment to social work; and to little Nina, a basketball athlete from Bolzano, who organized a fundraiser among family and friends to buy the balls that had been stolen. Pisa Calcio, Sassuolo, Moreno Torricelli, Giorgio Chiellini, Filippo Macchi, and Daniele Cassioli, a former Paralympic champion for the inclusion projects he initiates with his association, also received the award.- Photo Press Office Building Kindness in Sport Award -(ITALPRESS).
