ROME (ITALPRESS) – Highlighting the contribution of the sports sector to GDP and the supply and demand for sports in Italy, as well as the investments made and the social impact of sports. These are the issues addressed by the Sport 2024 Report, presented this morning at the Foro Italico Tennis Terrace in Rome. The report, born from the synergy between the Institute for Sports and Cultural Credit and Sport and Health and presented in the presence of Minister Andrea Abodi, represents a system analysis based on quality data, official sources and certified methodology. “It is important that there is rigorous reporting for sports as well,” indeed, stressed ICSC President Beniamino Quintieri. “From the latest available data, updated to 2022, the sports sector in Italy has reached an economic size of 24.7 billion euros,” he added, “This is a change of 12.6 percent. The ‘corè activities are a flywheel that is also transmitted to other sectors, there is also an effect on industry.” There is no shortage of critical issues, such as “dualism, with investments lacking in the South compared to the North.” At the level of sports practice, “in Italy the percentage of active citizens is increasing (37.1 million Italians, or 64.8 percent) and the sedentary index is dropping,” explained Sport and Health President Marco Mezzaroma. “Italy has understood that movement can be one of the factors in the prevention of disease. In addition, sport is urbanizing, which is why we launched the ‘Illuminà project: free sport, accessible to all, in playgrounds that can be built in a short time.” An “Italy model” also recalled by Minister for Sport and Youth Abodi: “Sport can and must become an indispensable premise for the well-being of our communities and the entire nation. The Sport 2024 Report provides an analytical tool that represents a new starting point to guide sports policies and direct the development, promotion and diffusion of sport for all.” Also present was the president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, who emphasized the opportunity “lost with the Pnrr: we were due 1.8 billion euros, less than half of it arrived. But today, with this government, there is the will for all that to change.” The number one of the Italian Paralympic Committee, Luca Pancalli, for his part, wanted to emphasize the “incredible value of the social return of GDP generated by sport. If we do not start from this, every action would be in vain. This study demonstrates the need to work so that we understand the complexity of the system of the Italian sports world.”- photo spf/Italpress -(ITALPRESS).
