BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – Negotiators of the European Parliament and Council have reached the political agreement on new measures to mitigate the negative effects of world steel overproduction. The Agreement includes, among other things, the reduction of import quotas, reducing those exempt from duties to 18.3 million tonnes per year, as well as a customs duty of 50% (the present is 25%) to imports exceeding the quota and iron and steel products not included in the Regulation.

“The Italian position has passed thanks to an important teamwork.” It is stated by the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, commenting on the agreement reached in trilogue on the regulation aimed at protecting the EU steel market.
