AMSTERDAM (HOLLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Stellantis has unveiled STLA Frame, a multi-energy BEV-by-design platform designed for full-size body-on-frame pickups and SUVs, a key segment in some global markets, particularly North America.People who drive full-size pickups and SUVs want uncompromised power and durability and pay extreme attention to cargo capacity, practicality and performance. STLA Frame is designed to provide best-in-class range of up to 1,100 km (690 miles) with REEV and 800 km (500 miles) with BEV, a maximum towing capacity of 6,350 kg (6,350 pounds) and a payload of 1,224 kg (1,224 pounds). In addition, the ability to ford waterways as deep as 24 inches (610 mm) makes STLA Frame ready for diverse uses and extreme driving contexts. Designed for Stellantis’ full-size pickups, light commercial vehicles and SUVs, vehicles built on STLA Frame will initially be offered with innovative propulsion systems, which include full BEV variants and a range-extender configuration (range-extended electric vehicle – REEV). In the future, STLA Frame will be able to accommodate internal combustion, hybrid, and hydrogen propulsion systems. The REEV system, which combines battery, front and rear electric propulsion modules (EDM), on-board generator, and internal combustion engine, allows drivers to carry or tow heavy loads over long distances without sacrificing range. With no direct mechanical flow between the engine and the wheels, the generator powers the EDMs to propel the car and recharges the battery as needed, providing extended range under loaded conditions while benefiting from the torque of the electric motors that take vehicle dynamics to new standards.”Like STLA Medium and STLA Large, STLA Frame combines unprecedented range with new levels of capability and performance to offer best-in-class range, payload and towing for those who need reliable and powerful pickup trucks and SUVs for their family and work,” said Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis. “With full-EV and extended-range technology on the way, we offer uncompromising solutions to customers who may have doubts about buying their first electric car. We’re proud of this engineering marvel and look forward to seeing it in action during the next product offensive on Jeep and Ram cars. “Innovative design for strength and efficiencySTLA Frame is built with advanced high-strength steels, which provide increased durability and rigidity with reduced weight. An enlarged center section houses the battery pack, with reinforced frame structure that protects the battery in the event of a side impact. A full-length belly reduces aerodynamic drag to help maximize driving range, reaffirming Stellantis’ commitment to efficiency that does not come at the expense of performance. The platform is designed to provide a BEV range of up to 800 km (500 miles) and a REEV range of up to 1,100 km (690 miles). It can accommodate liquid-cooled battery packs ranging from 159 to more than 200 kilowatt-hours. It is also designed to adapt to upcoming energy storage technologies, ensuring their use in the future. Stellantis-designed and assembled front and rear EDMs with a maximum power output of 250 kW provide all-wheel drive capability and enable the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The flexible design of the suspension system, which also includes pneumatic variants, provides an optimized ride for different driving and loading conditions.
