ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In recent days, the United States, with military action, captured and arrested the president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro and his wife, accused of narcoterrorism, corruption and other leaders of imputation. An action conducted “in solitary” by the U.S. and that has generated different reactions – even compared to a possible violation of international law norms – both politically and institutionally and between public opinion.
According to a survey by Only Numbers, more than half of Italian citizens, in fact, consider the US intervention in Venezuela an illegitimate act, while sharing its choice is almost 1 Italian on 4. On a political level, the electorate splits between the supporters of opposition parties strongly in disagreement with American action and those of majority who, on the contrary, propend slightly towards a sharing of this military action.
Considering these scenarios and the pregress of Donald Trump’s actions, two thirds of the Italian population today believes that the policies implemented by the American president contribute to making the world more unstable. An opinion that in this case, although with different degrees of involvement, is shared transversely from right to left. The survey was carried out by Only Numbers on 5 and 6 January 2026 with CAWI methodology on a sample of 800 representative cases of the Italian majority population.
