TURIN (ITALPRESS) – A few weeks after the birth of the Bosco del Toro, Suzuki, Torino FC, the City of Turin and the Mirafiori Community Foundation are coming together for a new activity to preserve and protect the city’s environment, convinced that with small, concrete gestures great results can be achieved.
On Sunday, April 13, the event open to all who wish to donate some of their free time to the environment, “Let’s Kick the Garbage,” will take place. Armed with tongs, gloves and bags, Suzuki employees, young soccer players from Torino FC captained by Corrado Buonagrazia, Head of Grassroots Activities of Torino FC, Francesco Tresso, City Care and Green Councillor of the City of Turin, Chairwoman Anna Rosaria Toma with volunteers from Mirafiori Community Foundation, volunteers from Torino Spazio Pubblico and citizen volunteers will gather at Colonnetti Park in Turin to clean up the area adjoining the Bosco del Toro, near the new Robaldo sports center, which will be home to the training sessions of Torino FC’s Youth Sector.
The event follows the planting of 68 native trees in the Bosco del Toro area, bringing the Suzuki Widespread Forest to the remarkable figure of 1,184 trees on the Italian territory, concretely contributing to the overall CO2 reduction of 29,000 kg per year.
“It is the duty of each of us to make our own contribution to protecting the environment, even if individually insufficient to change the planet. Suzuki has been undertaking for several years with its dealers throughout Italy concrete initiatives of waste collection, which have removed 55 tons of waste dispersed in the environment, and planting new trees. So many contributions, each in its own measure will allow all together to achieve an adequate result. Suzuki thanks Torino FC and the City of Torino for this opportunity to give something back to the many Suzuki Customers in the city of Torino,” said Massimo Nalli, Suzuki President.
“The event that will take place on April 13 at Colonnetti Park marks another very important step toward the future we are envisioning together with Suzuki and the City of Turin. Our youth teams and citizens will join forces precisely to play a very important game. This sense of togetherness with the city and with our partners is a fundamental part of our mission as a Club that we are trying to undertake in these years. Being an active part of change is urgent and necessary for us: we are happy to be able to contribute with a positive impact,” said Lorenzo Barale, Commercial Director Torino FC.
“This day is a concrete example of how institutions, businesses and citizens can come together to take care of the environment, with shared actions and small gestures that can make a difference. Colonnetti Park is a precious green area for our city, where the Bosco del Toro has found a home: these initiatives contribute to its care and to strengthening the sense of community and responsibility towards a common good. I would like to thank Suzuki, Torino FC, Mirafiori Community Foundation and all the citizens who will participate in this day, among them the volunteers of Torino Spazio Pubblico, who have been donating their time for a number of years to carry out regular cleaning and minor maintenance activities in the park, as well as in many other green spaces in the city,” said Francesco Tresso, city councilor for City Care and Green Areas of the City of Turin.
“The Mirafiori Community Foundation is pleased to participate in the Torino FC and Suzuki initiative “Diamo un calcio ai rifiuti,” which brings many young people closer to thinking about ‘caring’ for the environment by combining two important vocations present in this area. The sporting vocation, now enriched by the presence of Torino FC and already strongly identifying Mirafiori, and the green vocation, which sees Mirafiori committed for years to enhancing the extraordinary environmental heritage present in its territory, promoting a ‘integral human ecology’ that fights ‘the culture of waste’ in favor of a ‘culture of care’,” said Anna Rosaria Toma, President of the Mirafiori Community Foundation.
