Tacconi “Today’s soccer bores me, I like Carnesecchi”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) -Paring life’s shots, as well as strikers’ shots. Stefano Tacconi knows what that means, nearly three years after the aneurysm that struck him in April 2022. “Being an athlete helped me so much, the body was ready for anything,” the legendary Juventus and national team goalkeeper told during “Primo Piano,” the Italpress news agency column hosted by Claudio Brachino.

Tacconi talks about the disease in his book The Art of Paring. A metaphor for life. The first half is the one related to memories of playing soccer, the second he experienced after the illness. “Having family next to you is the best medicine, I couldn’t wait to leave the hospital and go home. A patient heals much easier,” recounted Tacconi, who then dwelt on that dramatic day on April 22: “I had a very strong headache since the morning, but I had to attend a charity event. I went and collapsed on the ground. Fortunately, my son knew how to deal with first aid. He was very good and had great strength, but it was a big scare for him,” his words. From there a new phase begins. The extra time, that is, physical therapy.

“When I throw away the crutch maybe it will be like saving a penalty.” The soccer world has been close to him: “My son has received so many calls. Even Vialli and Schillaci had made a video message for me. Those are two messages I keep in my heart.” Between future plans (“I would like to open a restaurant”) and memories of the past (“At Juve there was an obligation to always win”), a comment on today’s soccer also emerges: “It bores me and I don’t like it. They all start from the goalkeeper and no one shoots on goal. Goalkeepers? I like Carnesecchi, he could be my heir. He looks like me and is paring well and is lucky enough to play in a team in good shape like Atalanta.”
