Taekwondo, Italy wins two gold and three silver at the Austrian Open G1 in Innsbruck

INNSBRUCK (AUSTRIA) (ITALPRESS) – Five medals and first place in the team ranking. The National Taekwondo opens the international season 2026 at the Austrian Open G1 in Innsbruck with two gold and three silver.

To drive the group is Simone Alessio, gold in the -87 kg. The blue beats the Croatian Vito Krpan in the final at the end of a route that had seen him beat in the semifinals the compatriot Alexander Oberhofer (TKD Sudtirol) and, in the quarters, the Slovene Babic, confirming itself as reference of the category. Gold also in the -54 kg, where the final is all Italian between Gaetano Cirivello and Abderrahman Touiar: to impose itself is Cirivello, who in the semifinals had surpassed the American Youngsuk Gun. Touiar closes second after Israeli success Tomer Barash.

The two silvers of Elisa Bertagnin (-46 kg), which were stopped in the final by the British Khorshidi after 2-0 in the semifinals on the Brajovic, and Ludovico Iurlaro (-63 kg), defeated in the last act by the Ukrainian Samir Mirzoiev after the victories on the Netherlands, Great Britain and the Bulgarian Mitkov. For Italy, in addition to the five medals, the trophy of the best team arrives in the first international event of the year.
