Tajani “On missiles every country for itself, now a peace conference”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Each country decides how to have its military aid used in a bilateral relationship with Kiev. There is a NATO position that says the alliance is not engaged in the war, and the Americans seem to me to be very prudent.” Thus, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who adds, “We have provided Kiev with unreserved aid, military, civilian, financial, now we are going to send the second battery of Samp T to defend the Ukrainian population. Zelensky has never asked for more than what we do. And we of the rest do not have the British and American weapons. I hope that a serious peace conference can be held before the end of the year.” On long-range missiles to Ukraine to strike on Russian territory a green light from London seems close: “It’s a British position, I think we have to stop the Russian advance: when Borrell said something similar to that is that assessing Starmer the EU Foreign Affairs Council did not follow up on those statements. We have a Parliament and a very clear agreement,” reiterates Tajani, who, when asked what he thinks of Washington and London’s denunciation of a supply of 200 missiles from Iran to Moscow in exchange for nuclear technology, replies, “There is a G7 document for what Iran is doing, a strong condemnation on the supply of weapons to Moscow, which is a violation of international law and a threat to European security. But we also send this message to China, not to supply weapons or technology to Russia, but rather to ask Moscow to take steps to end the war and renounce the occupation of Ukraine. “Today in Rome, in addition to the British premier, China’s foreign trade minister is also arriving. “We want to work on a trade plan of equality, we are asking for equal access for our products in China’s markets,” Tajani explains. “Our companies must compete on equal terms. To get to these goals in Brussels we support the duties that the EU Commission proposes, to protect the competitiveness of our companies. We aim for a climate of positive cooperation, real reciprocity, to avoid dumping actions and also sometimes incomprehensible obstacles from Beijing. All this does not affect our good relations, as demonstrated by Meloni’s trip and Mattarella’s upcoming trip at the end of the year, in which I will also participate.” Then, on the request for Salvini’s conviction, he comments, “It is an incredible request, with no legal basis: trying to target the criminal law to attack the government seems to me out of all logic, we have already seen it with Berlusconi. We have to move forward with justice reform.” And when asked what the relations between the Berlusconi family and the government really are, he replied, “Very positive, beyond many indiscretions. There is no attitude of hostility of the Berlusconi group toward the government. On civil rights every businessman can express his own opinion, which does not mean anything strategic. Even the meeting with Draghi has no special background: a large business group calls for stability and updates on international scenarios, nothing more than that. The party is completely autonomous and independent, no intrusion has ever taken place.” Finally, on the circumstance that he has taken an early stand against taxation on extra-profits, he says, “They asked me a question and I answered it; the dossier is not on the table for the Minister of Economy himself. An additional contribution from banks or anyone else for the public debt must eventually be the result of a confrontation, not an imposition. I defend the economic fabric of my country, our real engine for growth and debt reduction. Then I claim my right to have a clear opinion on this issue and I don’t serve anyone’s interests, I don’t take luxury vacations, nor do I have any advantages from anyone.”- Photo Agency Photogram – (ITALPRESS)
