Thauvin deludes Udinese, Napoli wins 3-1 comeback victory

UDINE (ITALPRESS) – A strong showing by Napoli, which, despite a solid Udinese side, beat the Friulian outfit 3-1, keeping them two points behind Atalanta, first in the standings on 37 points. After the initial Bianconeri lead signed by Thauvin, it was Lukaku and Anguissa’s goals, interspersed by Giannetti’s own goal, that brought success to Conte’s eleven after the double defeat between Coppa Italia and the league against Lazio.
Lively start of the match, with a couple of interesting initiatives both Friulian and Neapolitan sides. The first real chance to unlock the result will come from Neres who, on 19′, is favored by a high Napoli ball recovery and suddenly accelerates, kicking from inside the area with a left-footed cross that ends just wide of the post to Sava’s left. On 22′, however, the favorable episode will come for Udinese, with Lobotka’s hand touch worth the penalty kick for the Bianconeri, with Thauvin being first stopped from the penalty spot by Meret, but on the rebound the Frenchman is lethal in sealing the 1-0. Napoli that suffers the disadvantage and comes back forward, with Anguissa finding the conclusion at 36′ on the developments of corner, but it is Sava to tell him no in the dive.
We go to halftime with a Napoli present but struggling to find the winning solution for the equalizer, unlike at the beginning of the second half: too distant Giannetti and Bijol, McTominay takes advantage and launches Lukaku, cold in beating Sava and materializing the 1-1. Azzurri who accelerate in search of the overtaking goal, which will arrive at 76′, thanks to the personal action of Neres, who sows panic in the Friulian area and muffing the conclusion that Giannetti awkwardly sends into his own goal. Advantage that will become double a little later, with the winning insertion of Anguissa who, from one-on-one with Sava, seals the 3-1. Napoli thus entering a management final, in which Udinese failed to get back in front, thus seeing their hopes of a comeback dashed, finally snuffed out by Doveri’s triple whistle at the end of the four minutes of added time that thus sent the Udine challenge into the archives.
