NAPOLI (ITALPRESS) – “I tend to point out that I did not follow the path of the child as a doctor. I am the head department of the critical area, I live in this hospital, so indirectly I have news. The child I have never seen but I have the news all the time because we belong to this company. The situation is critical, very critical, we are applying a state law of 2017, December 2017, which protects the patient, in this case the child. I mean with the patient, in this case the parents, we shared the therapy to do. We don’t happen, we don’t break the plug, we don’t do the palliative curies that you do at home, we don’t do the pain therapy. The child is sedated, connected to the device and has the organs in a severe multi organ failure. So we do a therapy that we shared with the family doctor, with the mother, to try to protect the little one, in this case the little one, usually the patient, because it is a state law that protects citizens regarding these situations that unfortunately have been created”. Thus Antonio Corcione, Head of the Critical Area Reanimation of the Monaldi Hospital of Naples, explains the situation of the two-year-old admitted after a failed heart transplant.
“The situation is very critical, multi organ failure and we are there to continue to protect the little one, not to abandon it. Mom’s there by the baby. Mom’s a very good person. We are all shocked about this, I who did not participate in this path are upset. as head of department working in this company, as a doctor, as a father, as a grandfather I am upset” he concludes.
