ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A very ancient festival, which makes the passage from the old to the new year coincide with the equinox of spring: the Nauryz marks the renewal in Kazakhstan and is accompanied by songs, dances and traditional food. The embassy in Rome decided to invite 300 kazaki students in Italy for this year, thanks to bilateral cooperation agreements in the field of education. A presence that symbolizes not only respect for tradition, but also the desire for the future of a country that has just held a referendum to change the entire Constitution. The new text, voted by citizens on 15 March, focuses on human rights, economic development, but focuses in particular on the resource represented by new generations and their education. “The Nauryz is a very ancient festival throughout Central Asia, which means renewal of nature, country, people,” said the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Rome, Yerbolat Sembayev. “This equinox symbolizes perhaps also the renewal of our thoughts, to look to the future wisely. This is why we make this feast for young people, students, who are so many in Italy, almost 6,000. A presence also made possible by the help of the Italian government and the regions, which provide subsidies for Kazakh students,” he added.

A support, that of Italy to the programs for kazaki students, which was also underlined by the president of the Eurasian Country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the occasion of the visit of the head of the State, Sergio Mattarella, in Astana at the end of September 2025. On that occasion Tokayev also recalled the inauguration, in July last year, of a detached seat of the Polytechnic University of Marche, housed at Zhetysu University in Taldykorgan: a fundamental stone of a bridge that is also being built in this sector between Italy and Kazakhstan.

The day at the embassy on Via Cassia has winded between songs and music, with the inevitable Plov, dish made of rice and meat, to dominate the scene of the culinary offering. There were many young people dressed in traditional clothes, just to point out attachment to the origins also abroad. “Today is the greatest celebration of the year for us”, explained to the microphones of Italpress the president of the Association of students kazaki in Italy (Aksi), Gaukhar Zhakimova. “We gathered all the students here at the embassy to celebrate this important day together,” said Gaukhar, who studied International Relations at the State of Milan. “I like everything from Italy: people, language and culture. This is why I am beautifully in this country,” he said.
