ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the warnings for weeks to Italian citizens in Iran to leave the country and to the prudence throughout the region because of possible new military activities. In particular, following the meeting chaired at the end of January by foreign minister Antonio Tajani after the outbreak of protests in Iran, the non-essential staff of the embassy in Tehran was returned to Italy. According to a note of the plumbing, since then the reduction of staff has remained active and travel is not recommended for any reason: the Italians present for tourism or whose presence is not strictly necessary are invited to leave the country. It is also not recommended to travel at any time in Iraq and it is recommended to postpone trips not dictated by reasons of need in Lebanon. As far as Israel is concerned, the Farnesina recommends all the country’s compatriots to pay maximum attention and to remain vigilant, keeping informed about the emergency procedures and the indications of the local authorities in their respective places of stay.
The security situation remains unstable at regional level. The other embassies of Italy throughout the area remain alert and in constant contact with the Crisis Unit, in the common goal of assisting the compatriots who needed it. It is recommended that the compatriots present in the region keep informed and follow any specific indications of the local authorities. All countrymen in the region not yet registered are invited to enter their presence in the region on the portal “Where We Are in the World” (www.dovesiamonelmondo.it).
