ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The possession is only valid on the ball”. It is from this belief that the National Amateur League reiterates, once again, its commitment to promoting respect, gender equality and the fight against all forms of violence against women, remembering how football should be a powerful educational tool.
“In our sport, possession, control and pressure are technical gestures, not attitudes towards people. And it is precisely from here that football must assume its responsibility in the fight against gender violence – says Luca De Simoni, coordinator of the Social Responsibility Area of the Amateurs League –. We must remember that violence is not only physical, but also psychological and verbal, and words can associate with behaviors that hurt. We have the duty to be the first to give the good example, promoting correct messages and respect.”.
Throughout November, LND, through its Social Responsibility Area, has made numerous initiatives to raise awareness among athletes, managers, families and typhoons. From the messages read on all fields before the matches, to the constant support to 1522, the national number of antiviolence and stalking, up to the campaign “To team against violence”, conceived by Gaia Simonetti who brought in the amateur world, testimonies of fight against violence with parents who lost their daughter for feministration.
Through the Regional Committees, the LND has consolidated a path that has put football at the center of a concrete social responsibility: educating respect, recognizing signs of abuse, giving voice and support to those in difficulty. With these actions, the Amateur League confirms that sport is not only competition, but also culture, community and civil commitment.
