The end of summer comes with a thickening of commitments. The New York Comites met on the 10th to write the 2025 budget, however, with the knowledge that ministerial funding always arrives very small and during the summer. The 2024 funding arrived, as it did for most Comites, only in August, as in 2023.
It was decided to use $1,000 to contribute to the expenses for the Columbus Parade in Brooklyn, organized – as always – by FIAO. This year it will be on Saturday, October 12. Funds for another $2,000 have been set aside to support Columbus Day in Manhattan, but – of all this – we will make more information available at the next Comites Space.
In addition, we decided to partner with the Federation of Campania Associations for their Building Bridges Between Art Schools program. This is a program that involves an exchange of students between New York and Campania schools.
We granted patronage to two cultural events of special significance: the Caruso Tribute Prize and the Maestro Prof. Giovanna Pia Ferrara.
However, we had to record the resignation for family reasons of Gloria Tononi, whom we thank for her commitment. Replacing her in the Comites will be Elisabetta Sanio D’Amanda, a presence that expands the Comites to the Rochester area.
President Enrico Zanon and Executive member Pasquale Masullo with much pleasure attended the Gala celebrating the 124th anniversary of the Polizzi Generosa Society of New York. It was a well-attended event and another occasion that shows how much our associations are still a uniting force for many people. Congratulations to Maria Teresa Buffa for being honored as Woman of the Year.
Now we are preparing for a crackling October.
