October was a crackling month as in the expectations. The main events revolved around Columbus Day. On Saturday the 12th, President Zanon and Joe Rizzi carried the Comites banner to the Brooklyn parade, organized by FIAO. It was a very inclusive and engaging parade of the various cultures that the route passed through. But the most famous is the one in Manhattan: here the credit for organizing the Comites group goes to Ornella Fado. See these two videos for more:

But in the New York consular district there were indeed dozens of parades, and heartfelt thanks are given to all the organizers. In Manhattan, there was also a Mass in the Cathedral and a reception by Mayor Eric Adams at Gracie Mansion. There were many visitors from Italy: we only mention the students from the Liceo Musicale Sandro Pertini in Genoa.
Other events this month include the following.
The Foodance, sponsored by Comites, was held on October 11, with Councilwoman Ornella Fado as the patroness of the event. This edition focused on Sicily. On the 15th, on the other hand, the Caruso Tribute Prize, also sponsored by Comites, was held at the Italian Cultural Institute. In addition, a documentary was made of the event that will be aired on RAI. Other events include the New York CANTA festival and the gala of the Italian Cultural Association of New York.
As many as four galas were held on October 20: that of the Caggianesi D’America, the Society of Pozzallo, the Emilianoromagnoli of New York, and that of the Scoglitti Society, which counts Francesco Caramagna among its organizers. Galas are a defining feature of associations and often a key instrument of self-financing.
We highlight Barbara Marciandi’s participation in the Giorgio Ambrosoli Award at the Italian Cultural Institute on October 21: an event on the themes of integrity, moral sense and respect.
The month of November opened with a meeting organized by Leide Porcu on the well-being of Italian immigrants with the involvement of experts in mental health and culture. Too bad it sold out in a very short time.
