ALGERI (ALGERIA) (ITALPRESS) – Pope Leo XIV arrived in Annaba, in the east of Algeria, on the second day of his official visit to the country. Upon arrival, the pontiff was welcomed by Ahmed Attaf, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and by local authorities. According to the program, the Pope will visit the archaeological site of Ippona, where he lived and taught Saint Augustine before going to a nursing home. On his arrival in Annaba, a young man welcomed the Pope in Italian, in a symbolic gesture of welcome. Leo was warmly welcomed by the inhabitants of Annaba, according to Algerian television. The Pope greeted the many citizens who came to meet him, exchanged with them some words in a friendly and close atmosphere.
