MILANO (ITALPRESS) – Immersed in the unique scenery of the Dolomites, the Olympic Village of Cortina d’Ampezzo officially opened its doors, welcoming the first athletes and members of the delegations in view of the Winter Games. Designed to best express the identity of the host territory, the village of Cortina d’Ampezzo is harmoniously inserted in the alpine landscape, enhancing its natural and cultural heritage. Architects and spaces have been designed to ensure efficiency, quality of life and daily well-being, giving shape to a collected and man-made environment, ideal to accompany athletes in the setting stage and in preparation for competitions. “The village of Cortina d’Ampezzo draws its direct inspiration from the Alpine context and the cultural heritage of the Dolomites – said Flaminia Tamburi, Head of the Village – From their arrival, we want athletes to feel part of this extraordinary environment, a place where sport, nature and local identity dialogue authentically.” The Village hosts 377 mobile home entirely Made in Italy, designed to accommodate more than 1,400 athletes in a functional, accessible and well-being oriented environment. The units are equipped with ergonomic furnishings, optimized spaces and home automation systems.
The arrival of the first delegations was a significant step for the teams involved in the management of the Village. The activities, which were supported by 99 Team26 volunteers and volunteers, focused on welcoming, guiding and coordinating services, with the aim of making each phase of the arrival simple and well organized, so as to allow athletes and staff to set up quickly after the trip. “The initial moments are always particularly intense – added Tamburi – A great expectation is felt and our priority has been to ensure smooth arrivals and a welcoming climate, so that everyone can settle with serenity and immediately turn attention to the upcoming sporting commitments.” The first encounters by athletes and delegations highlighted the hospitable atmosphere and the strong alpine character of the Village. Many have highlighted the feeling of quiet and the deep connection with the natural environment as distinctive elements of the initial experience in Cortina d’Ampezzo. “The impressions collected in these early hours are very positive – Tamburi concluded – Athletes and delegations appreciated the tranquility of the Village and the natural context surrounding it, particularly precious aspects at the beginning of the approach to the Games.” All the Olympic Villages in Milan Cortina 2026 are officially operational since the structures of Predazzo, Bormio, Anterselva and Livigno also opened the doors to delegations.
