The Pope visits a parish in Ostia “The clouds darken the world, we continue to ask for peace”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Papa Benedetto XV, a hundred and ten years ago, wanted this Parish called Santa Maria Regina Pacis. He did so in the midst of the First World War, thinking also of your community as a ray of light in the sky of the Bold War. At a time, unfortunately, many clouds still obscure the world, with the spread of logic contrary to the Gospel, which exalt the supremacy of the strongest, encourage the prepotence and feed the seduction of victory at all costs, suffers the cry of those who suffer and of those who are helpless.” Thus Pope Leo XIV, in his homily today afternoon during Mass in the parish of Santa Maria Regina Pacis in Ostia Lido.
The Pope, during his visit, met the children of catechism and young people, the elderly, the sick, the poor, the volunteers of Caritas and the pastoral council.

“Let us oppose this stems the disarming force of the gentleness, continuing to ask for peace, and to welcome and cultivate the gift, with tenacity and humility – the Pontiff continued. Saint Augustine taught that “it is not difficult to possess peace. If we want to have it, it is there, within our reach and we can possess it without any effort.” And this is because our peace is Christ, who is conquered by letting himself be conquered and transformed by Him, opening his heart, and opening it, with his grace, to those who He himself sets on our journey – Pope Leo XIV concluded. Do it yourself, dear brothers and sisters, day by day. Do it together, as a community, with the help of Mary, Queen of Peace. May she, Mother of God and Mother of ours, always keep us and protect us.”.
