The Responsible Research Hospital in Campobasso becomes the first Southern facility to activate the robot da Vinci 5

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Campobasso enters the national map of high robotic surgery. Responsible Research Hospital is the first facility of Centro-Sud Italia to activate the da Vinci 5, the world’s first tactile surgical robot, marking a qualitative leap in the health offer for the whole mid-South basin. The goal is clear: bringing latest technologies close to patients and responding to an increasingly broader health demand, reducing the need for shifts to other regions and strengthening the attraction of the territory.

Developed by Intuitive, the system introduces tactile feedback, which allows the surgeon to “feel” tissues during surgery, increasing precision, control and safety. The platform is already operational: from February 23, the first interventions on molisani patients.

It also initiates the activity of major oncological surgery on uterus, ovaries, colon, rectum, stomach and pancreas, with applications particularly relevant in oncological surgery with high complexity in the gynecological field and in the treatment of neoplasms of the digestive apparatus.

Determining the contribution of a highly qualified team, which integrates surgical and oncological skills in a multidisciplinary approach. Among the protagonists, Professor Francesco Cosentino, Ordinary of Gynaecology at the University of Molise and Director of the Department of Oncology, and Dr. Graziano Pernazza, among the leading Italian experts of robotic surgery and interim Director of the Complex Operating Unit of General Surgery, as well as Director of the Complex Operating Unit of Advanced Robotic Oncology of Responsible Research Hospital.

In these areas, the experience of the directors of the respective units and the volumes of activities already matured guarantee the respect of the highest standards of safety and quality of treatment. “We chose to invest in the highest level of innovation available today to build a health offer capable of serving not only the Molise, but the entire Centre-South”, says President Stefano Petracca. “It is a concrete step to bring advanced care closer to citizens and strengthen the role of our hospital as a point of reference.” With the introduction of the da Vinci 5, Responsible Research Hospital stands as one of the most advanced centers in mini-invasive surgery in Italy.
