The Sicilian Region finances with 12 million euros vouchers for graduates attending university masters

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – The Sicilian Region introduces vouchers for graduates who attend or intend to attend a first or second level university master and finance them altogether with 12 million euros of the Pr Sicilia Fse+ 2021-2027. The measure, strongly desired by the Regional Councillor for Education Mimmo Turano, is contained in a notice published by the Department of Education, University and Law to Study, which gives all graduates residing in Sicily for at least 12 months the possibility of obtaining a financial contribution to the lost background for the fees of enrollment to a university master of first or second level, in Italy or abroad.

“One of the priorities of my government – says the president of the Renato Schifani Region – is to enhance the merit and give our young people the opportunity to obtain a specialized and high-level training, such as the one that a master can offer. For this purpose we have identified resources suitable to support those who, although worthy, would have difficulty in supporting the costs of this high training. Our hope is that these young people, once they have achieved the title, not only do they find a highly qualified occupation, but they can return to work on our island, also thanks to the measures we have activated, such as the South Working”.

“After the loan of honor for university students – says Councillor Turano – with President Schifani we wanted to continue investing in high education, making available to Sicilians a package of interventions that reward merit and give our graduates the opportunity to continue studying and growing. Attending a master has costs and not everyone has the opportunity to support them. With the choice to finance individual vouchers for first and second level masters, the regional government has made a choice of field that looks to the future, because promoting lifelong learning means anticipating changes in the world of work, also supporting requalification of skills. To the extent we have allocated altogether 12 million euros in three years”.

The amount of the voucher varies according to the master chosen: for the masters of the first level is previewed a contribution of 7 thousand euros; for those of second level of annual duration, delivered in Italy and abroad, of 20 thousand euros; for those always second level paid in Italy and abroad of duration equal or greater to 18 months, instead, of 30 thousand euros.

Persons residing in Sicily from at least 12 months may apply for the voucher, having a three-year degree, a single-cycle or specialist/magistral degree, a first or second-level academic diploma or an academic qualification obtained abroad, provided that they are eligible for access to the master and recognised as equivalent under current legislation. The minimum duration of the courses is one academic year and must be compulsory for the recognition of at least 60 Cfu (University Credits) or 60 Cfa (Academic Educational Credits).

Each beneficiary may obtain only one voucher, which is not combinable with other public or private contributions, total or partial coverage of the registration costs. It is possible to submit a single application for financing, referring exclusively to a single training path.

Requests for assistance may be submitted via platform in three different time windows. The first window will be active from 10 october 19 until 18 of November 18, 2026; the other two in 2027 and 2028.
