Tourism, BMT closes in Naples with growing numbers

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – Over fifteen thousand trade visitors to Naples for the twenty-eighth edition of BMT, held at the Mostra d’Oltremare March 13-15, 2025. As many as 500 exhibitors were welcomed on an exhibition area of 16 thousand square meters, 85 outgoing and incoming tour operators, 18 airports and airlines, including 7 connecting Naples with America, 13 cruise and shipping companies, 11 strategic regions for the promotion of the Italian territory. And again, 50 international tourism promotion bodies and destinations, a number almost doubled compared to the last edition and with many operators crowding the stands, with Croatia choosing Naples and the BMT as its main base for promotion in Italy. In attendance were 160 of the national Travel and Incentive business sector companies such as Barilla, Bauli, Lovable, Polaris. And, finally, four workshops attended by 390 Italian sellers. In total, the 28th edition of BMT hosted more than 100 panels, events and conferences.

“Today BMT is identified as the second fair on organized tourism in Italy, and it is an international fair. Over the years we have brought 5 thousand foreign tour operators to Naples, who visit our territory and the South,” stressed Progecta’s patron Angioletto De Negri, for whom “it is also thanks to BMT if even in the South entrepreneurs today feel like focusing on luxury tourism.” This very segment was discussed during the event “Campania luxury & mice destination,” promoted during BMT. The luxury area, which made its debut this year, will be implemented for the 2026 edition given its great success.

Tourism Minister Daniela Santanché visited BMT on its opening day, attending the inaugural event at the Mostra d’Oltremare in Naples. For the minister, in fact, Italy must focus on “quality tourism. Tourism in the high-end accommodation sector, the 5 Star hotels, the 5 Star Luxury hotels, grew by 9 percent compared to the rest of hotel tourism, which grew by 5.2 percent. I think what was being done in years past, counting how many tourists, how many heads, were coming to our nation, we should no longer be interested in that. We should be interested in how much money they leave in our nation, in our territories, in our facilities, to our merchants. And this is the tourism we need, quality tourism. Among the regions that have high-end tourism is Campania, which is doing really very well, and it is one of the regions that has invested the most,” Santanchè concluded, “in the quality of services.
