CIVITAVECCHIA (ITALPRESS) – State Police in Civitavecchia, arrested an international drug trafficker who disembarked from the ferry from Barcelona with 87 kilograms of pure cocaine with a commercial value of about 10 million euros. Specifically, Civitavecchia Maritime Border Police officers, after conducting a careful examination of the list of passengers arriving from Barcelona subjected a number of vehicles to inspection. Among them was a road tractor with an attached semi-trailer driven by a hauler of Spanish origin. In the initial stages of the check, the driver appeared particularly nervous and uncooperative, and this attitude became even more acute as soon as the police dog approached the truck.
Just inside the driver’s seat, the dog signaled narcotic contamination, which, however, a visual examination showed was not detectable. The search of the passenger compartment, allowed the discovery of 2 remote controls similar to those used for opening electric gates with some fuses nearby.
Nearby, an empty “slot” was noticed where the people inserted the fuse then operated the remote control. Immediately the two seats in the passenger compartment rose electronically, automatically removing themselves from their slots and revealing a large double-bottom hermetically sealed from the outside, where numerous packages were hidden.
A total of 79 bricks totaling 87 kilograms were extracted, which were immediately found to be cocaine.
The driver of the vehicle, was then arrested and taken to Aurelia Prison.
