Tragedy at sea: fifth body recovered from superyacht wreck

Divers from the fire brigade have recovered the fifth body of the six missing people from the wreck of the superyacht Bayesian, which sank between Sunday and Monday night off the coast of Porticello near Palermo. The body was discovered yesterday in one of the wreck’s cabins and was transported to the port by a fire brigade boat inside a blue body bag.

Reports suggest that the body is that of magnate Mike Lynch. This confirmation came after the body was brought ashore and identified. With the recovery of this body, the total number of recovered individuals now stands at six, following the earlier discovery of Ricardo Thomas on Monday. The wreck is now believed to still contain the final missing person, Hannah, the 18-year-old daughter of Lynch and Angela Bacares, who is among the survivors. Divers are currently resuming their search for the young woman.
