Tragedy on Zoncolan, 18-year-old skier dies

UDINE (ITALPRESS) – Tragedy on Zoncolan. Marco Degli Uomini, who fell yesterday while warming up on slope 2 ahead of his next engagement as the opener of the super-G of the Zoncolan Children’s Regional Championships held on slope 1, died at Udine Hospital at the age of 18.

“This is how we want to remember you Marco, happy on skis, the same skis that tragically tore you away from all of us – the condolences on Facebook from the Monte Dauda Ski Club of which he was a member – Thank you for your immense heart, thank you for your sincerity, thank you for your helpfulness, thank you for your loyalty and fairness…You will always be with us.”

Fisi Fvg President Maurizio Dunnhofer announced that the committee’s activities are suspended until the funeral takes place. Tomorrow, therefore, the Children’s Regionals slalom, scheduled to be held in Sappada, will not be held. “We are devastated,” says Dunnhofer, “The regional and national ski world is close in this very difficult moment to the family and the Monte Dauda ski club.
