ROME (ITALPRESS) – Italy climbs the podium in the mixed relay at the Abu Dhabi leg, the first event of the season of the World Triathlon Championship Series and the inaugural event of the new four-year Olympic Games leading up to the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The team composed of Alice Betto, Bianca Seregni, Nicola Azzano and Euan De Nigro finished the UAE race with an overall time of 01:32:24, which was worth third place. Triumphing were the Paris 2024 champions from Germany (01:32:05), second place for the United States (01:32:21).
“We are very happy with this result, considering that the relay is a litmus test of the quality of the group of athletes at our disposal,” said Italy’s technical director Matteo Torre. “Winning third place in Abu Dhabi with a team composed of half more experienced and half younger athletes is a sign of dynamic stability of a team in which all elements can be enhanced with respect to the circumstances and the moment of the season,” Torre added.
“This race proves that the relay requires a lot of patience, even when things get complicated, and that it is it is an unpredictable test: you have to put your cards on the table, never taking anything for granted,” concluded the blue dt.
