ROME (ITALPRESS) – The 2024 Italian Taekwondo Senior Black Belts Championships crowned in Giugliano in Campania, the site of this year’s tricolor event, the champions of the “heaviest categories” who performed on the Neapolitan tatami today. Four men’s titles and four women’s titles, to which must be added those dedicated to Paralympic activity, won respectively by Margherita Borsoi in the K44 -65kg class and by Luca Turtoro in the K40 -80 kg class.Among the men, Mattia Molin (+87 kg) and Angelo Mangione (-74 kg) continue their important path by winning this edition of the Absolute Championships after having made their mark at the international level respectively with the silver and bronze medals that came in the first case at the European Under 21 and in the second at the Junior World Championships. They were joined by Antonio Gerrone (-80 kg) and Alexandre Oberhofe (-87 kg), who were able to overcome all the competition on their boards to make it all the way to the top step of the podium.In the women’s categories, on the other hand, it was Natalia D’Angelo (-67 kg) who took her national encore, after the title she won last year and her participation a few months ago in the qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics, in a picture completed by the successes of Cristina Gaspa (-62 kg), Maristella Smiraglia (-73 kg) and Ana Ciuchitu (+73 kg).”This edition of the Italian Championships,” said Fita President Angelo Cito, “marked the official restart of the work of the entire national taekwondo movement toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. We saw a lot of competitiveness and a nice mix of young and experienced athletes on the tatami.
