Trump’s ultimatum “Iran reopens Hormuz within 48 hours or destroy their power plants”

WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – “Iran must immediately and completely reopen the Strait of Hormuz. No threats, no delays. Starting from this precise moment they have 48 hours to do so. If they don’t, the United States will destroy their power plants and other key infrastructure. We don’t play.” So on social truth the president of the United States Donald Trump has launched an ultimatum to Iran for the complete reopening of the marine passage, crucial hub for global energy traffic, which in fact is blocked by Iran following the military escalation begun on February 28, when the United States and Israel hit targets in the country. Since then, Tehran has threatened attacks against oil tankers and commercial ships, causing a drastic decline in maritime traffic.
Located between Iran to the north and Oman and the UAE to the south, Hormuz is the main link between the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. At its narrowest point it measures about 33 kilometers, while at the entrance and exit it reaches 50 kilometers wide.
This corridor normally passes around 20% of world oil and a significant share of liquefied natural gas (GNL), coming not only from Iran but also from other major regional producers such as Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Under normal conditions, about 3000 ships cross each month the narrow, but the number has recently decreased significantly.
