NYON (SWITZERLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Uefa has announced the launch of Take Care, an innovative program that harnesses the power of soccer to promote health and well-being in society, particularly among children and young people. Aiming to provide a range of support tools for national federations, leagues, clubs, other stakeholders and schools in promoting health and well-being, Take Care is designed for influential figures such as parents, teachers, coaches and technicians to encourage healthier lifestyles and better habits. As part of Uefa’s Health and Wellness Policy, one of the 11 pillars of the Football Sustainability Strategy 2030, Uefa “aims to mobilize the football community to promote better health, invite active lifestyles and increase player engagement across all age groups.” The Take Care program consists of six modules-each addressing interconnected themes of daily life: physical activity, nutrition, mental health, digital addiction, substance awareness, and road safety. The toolkit for each module contains a technical-scientific paper providing in-depth information on the topic, posters, a podcast, a documentary, and an educational session. Materials for the first module, ‘Physical Activity,’ will be available on the Take Care webpage from Feb. 12, 2025. To mark the occasion, a debate will be held in which Nani (Champions League and Euro2016 winner), Pia Sundhage (Swiss women’s national team coach) and Valter Di Salvo (performance and soccer science director of Aspire Academy and the Qatar Football Federation) will participate. Pedro Pinto will moderate the debate, which will take place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, on the same day. “In today’s fast-paced world, our physical and mental well-being faces numerous challenges and risks on a daily basis that can have a negative impact on ourselves and those around us. Soccer,” explains Michele Uva, Uefa’s director of social and environmental sustainability, “can act as an antidote, offering a unique way to help restore balance both on and off the pitch by promoting and encouraging healthier lifestyles. Uefa believes in the power and responsibility of soccer to inform and raise awareness, and the Take Care program is a key part of that.”- Photo Image -(ITALPRESS).
