Ukraine, Crosetto “Russia’s defeat is not military but political”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I never thought Ukraine could defeat Russia: the starting forces were too different, so the only possibility was to defend itself. As long as there is no truce, Italian aid will have to go in this direction: only a fool could think of a military defeat of Russia, but there was a political defeat because they thought they would take Ukraine in three days and they lost to the resistance of the Ukrainian people.” This was stressed by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto at a hearing before the joint Foreign and Defense Committees of the House and Senate.

“In a world where economic and military power counts, having a defense that allows you not to be an easy prey is a guarantee of democratic survival, security and stability,” Crosetto continued, -Until a few years ago none of us, including the German government that changed the Constitution a few days ago, thought it was necessary to invest in defense because the United States took care of it: someone could tell me that I can feel comfortable with other alliances, such as with Russia and China, but now there is no better alliance than with NATO, which asks us to face certain obligations.
