ROME (ITALPRESS) – With missile attacks in Russia, the conflict in Ukraine has taken on a “global character.” Thus Russian President Vladimir Putin in a televised address on the war in Ukraine.
For Putin, Russia “has the right” to strike the countries that have supplied the weapons Kiev uses against Moscow.
“Continuing the escalation of the conflict provoked by the West in Ukraine, the United States and its NATO allies had announced that they would grant permission to use their long-range precision weapons systems on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Putin explained. “Experts know very well, and the Russian side has repeatedly stressed it, that it is impossible to use such weapons without the direct participation of military specialists from the countries that produce them. On Nov. 19, six U.S.-made ATACMS operational tactical missiles and on Nov. 21, during a combined missile strike of the British-made Storm Shadow and U.S.-made HIMARS systems hit military targets on the territory of the Russian Federation – in the Bryansk and Kursk Regions. From that moment on, as we have repeatedly pointed out before, the regional conflict in Ukraine provoked by the West acquired elements of a global character. Our air defense systems repelled these attacks. As a result, the objectives obviously set by the enemy have not been achieved.”
“We are testing the Oreshnik missile system under combat conditions in response to the aggressive actions of NATO countries against Russia. The question of further deployment of medium- and short-range missiles will be decided by us on the basis of the actions of the United States and its satellites,” the Russian president said again. “We will determine the targets to be destroyed during further tests of our new missile systems on the basis of threats to the security of the Russian Federation. We believe that we have the right to use our weapons against military targets of those countries that allow the use of their weapons against our targets, and in case of escalation of aggressive actions, we will respond with the same decision and in the same way.”
