MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “There is no hypothesis of sending Italian military, there is no hypothesis of using cohesion funds instead of to develop territories to buy weapons.” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini said this in Milan on the sidelines of an event at the Lombardy Palace. “We want to invest in national security. So if it’s needed to buy equipment, means and pay personnel for the coast guard, the air force, the navy, the police and the carabinieri, welcome. However, a European army with a mandate from that madman Macron who talks about nuclear war, no, never,” Salvini continued.

On peace in Ukraine, the vice-premier continued: “It is crucial to have Ukraine at the negotiating table. It seems to me that Zelensky, recognizing Trump’s prominence, has done a wise thing. Zelensky is calling for peace, Trump is working for peace, Putin wants peace, and in Brussels and Paris there are some crazy people. I think Macron, out of political expediency for political survival, desperately needs to make sense of his still short tenure at the helm of France, however, don’t do it at our expense,” he concluded.
