Ukraine, Trump “If Zelensky doesn’t make peace, it won’t last”

WASHINGTON (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – The clash between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian number one Zelensky continues, this time at a distance. “The end of the war is still a long, long way off. There is still a long way to go. Kiev will never recognize the territories occupied by Russia as Russian territory. For us, these will be temporary occupations,” the Ukrainian leader had said yesterday before leaving London.

It was a sentence that made Trump furious, who on his Truth social posted, “This is the worst statement he could have made and America will not tolerate it much longer. If someone doesn’t want to make a deal, that person won’t be around very long…I know Russia wants to make a deal.”

In the evening Zelensky tried to adjust his pitch, pointing out on X that he was “working with partners with the goal of ending this war as soon as possible. We need real peace. I very much hope for U.S. support on the path to peace.” Trump responded by saying he never considered suspending military aid to Ukraine. “I just want Zelensky to be more grateful,” he added.

On the other hand, about the rare earths agreement, which foundered after Friday’s argument, Trump instead said, “I don’t think the minerals agreement is dead, but I will talk about it tomorrow” at the State of the Union address on Capitol Hill.
