ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky formally received a draft of the American plan to end the war in Ukraine. The plan, in 28 points, resumed proposals that Ukraine had sent back to the sender previously. That is, the sale of territories, the reduction of soldiers, no foreign troops or long-range weapons.
“I met the representatives of the United States. A high-level delegation and a very serious conversation. The American side presented its proposals – the points of a plan to end the war – its vision. Since the first days of war, we have supported a very simple position: Ukraine needs peace. A true peace, which will not be broken by a third invasion. A dignified peace, with terms that respect our independence, our sovereignty and the dignity of the Ukrainian people. And that is precisely the sense of these conditions that we must guarantee. I outlined our key principles. And we agreed that our teams will work on these proposals to ensure they are all authentic,” said Zelensky.
“We are ready to work clearly and honestly: Ukraine, the United States and our friends and partners in Europe and the world. I also remain in constant contact with other leaders, with the President of the French Republic. I expect to speak to President Trump in the next few days. We are fully aware that the strength and support of America can really bring peace closer, and we do not want to lose them. We are also aware that Russia does not have a real desire for peace, otherwise it would not start this war. The United States has the power to ensure that Russia’s will to end the war is finally serious. I will continue to work for this one hundred percent: all my time is now dedicated to this. Ukraine needs peace and Ukraine will do everything to ensure that no one in the world can say that we are those who are supposedly undermining diplomacy. This is important,” Zelensky concluded. Meanwhile, the pressures to move forward are enormous.
“To achieve lasting peace will require both parties to accept difficult but necessary concessions,” says the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. For the White House “the plan is constantly changing, but the president supports it. It is a good plan for both Russia and Ukraine, and we believe it should be acceptable for both sides.”.
For its part, Russia at the moment makes flutters saying it has not yet received information about Zelensky’s intention to negotiate the peace plan of US President Donald Trump. The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, said that Moscow has not yet been informed. The Secretary of the National Council for Security and Defence of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, said that he had not expressed any personal assessment of peace.
In a message on Telegram, Umerov confirmed that he had discussed the plan during his recent visit to the United States, but reiterated that his role was purely technical. Meanwhile, according to Aixos, the American peace plan would include security guarantees for Kiev modeled on article 5 of NATO, which would force the United States and European allies to consider an attack against Ukraine as an attack on the entire “transatlantic community”. The plan would provide heavy concessions for Kiev, but also the promise of solid security guarantees from the US and Europe.
MELONI SENTE MERZ, SOSTEGNO SFORZI NEGOZIALI PER PACE GIUSTA
The President of the Council Giorgia Meloni heard on the phone German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, for a first exchange of views on the American peace proposal for Ukraine. During the interview, the importance of supporting ongoing negotiating efforts was stressed and the final goal of achieving a just and lasting peace, in the interests of the whole of Europe. The reference was welcomed to solid security guarantees, integral to the broadest framework of European and transatlantic stability, in line with what has long been proposed by Italy. Other elements of the plan were considered worthy of further study. The contacts of President Meloni with the main leaders interested in the solution of the crisis will continue in the coming hours and tomorrow, even at the margin of the G20 Summit.
ZELENSKY SENTE MACRON, STARMER E MERZ
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a joint conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. It has made known the Ukrainian leader, thanking “for the support of principle to Ukraine and to all our people. We discussed a peace plan for Ukraine and throughout Europe. We appreciate the efforts of the United States, President Trump and his team to end this war. We’re working on a paper prepared by the American side. This should be a plan that will guarantee real and dignified peace. We are working closely to ensure that the basic positions are taken into account. We coordinated the next steps and agreed that the teams at the appropriate levels will work together,” said Zelensky.
