ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Sandra Savino, met at the MEF the CEO of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgerio, for a comparison on the Group’s activities and the prospects of industrial development, with particular attention to the plant of Monfalcone.
During the meeting, the strategic role of the Julian production site was highlighted, one of the main poles of the European shipbuilding industry and one of the leading axes of the economy of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Monfalcone’s production is a determining factor for regional exports, for employment and for the vitality of a supply chain involving hundreds of induced companies, contributing significantly to the growth and competitiveness of the entire regional economic system. “Monfalcone is a strategic site for the national industry and for the economy of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is essential that industrial development, employment protection, respect for social rules and balance be part of a shared path that enhances the territory and guarantees serenity to the community,” said Undersecretary Savino.
Ample space has been devoted to employment and vocational qualification. In Monfalcone there are already more than 270 new recruits and continues the plan of attraction of skilled labor, also through initiatives linked to the Mattei Plan, with structured training paths and teaching of the Italian language. Through projects such as “Maestri del Mare” and collaborations with ITS and technical institutes of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Fincantieri strengthens upskilling and reskilling paths for direct and induced personnel. Since 2024 26 Italian language courses have been activated, for 1,300 hours total, which involved more than 400 workers in the different Italian establishments.
“In investing in technical and linguistic training means consolidating skills, occupational stability and full compliance with the rules. Industrial growth must be accompanied by concrete instruments of professional qualification and a strong legality, as happens in this excellence of our country,” said Savino. In the comparison, the strengthening of the supply chain was deepened through the projects “Induced Evolution” and PartnerSHIP, aimed at reducing the subcontract, promoting the aggregation between enterprises and improving financial solidity, digitization, sustainability and security. The consolidation of legal requirements through the National Framework Protocol with the Ministry of the Interior, the collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, structured audit and monitoring systems and the promotion of the ASSE.CO certification was also highlighted. for induced companies.
“A more solid and transparent supply chain protects workers, strengthens healthy businesses and gives stability to the territory. Legality, security and control are unreliable conditions to ensure lasting development,” the Undersecretary highlighted.
Finally, the technological innovation path of the Monfalcone construction site has been illustrated, which is strengthened as a hub of research and development thanks to a workshop of about 1,200 square meters dedicated to robotics, cobotics, 3D printing, Internet of Things and digital twin, with an experiential and formative area open to schools and young people.
“Monfalcone demonstrates that Italy can be the protagonist in major strategic sectors if it unites industry, innovation and social responsibility. As a government we will continue to support an industrial policy that strengthens our excellences, ensures qualified work and consolidates the competitiveness of the national production system. Growth must be solid, governed and shared: this is the way to give stability to businesses and confidence to citizens,” concluded Savino. Undersecretary Savino, at the invitation of Fincantieri, in the coming days will visit the plant of Monfalcone.
