UniBg, inaugurated the flowerbed of Iris Barbate in memory of Paola Mostosi

BERGAMO (ITALPRESS) – In view of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women of 25 November, the University of Bergamo dedicated the afternoon of Tuesday 18 November to two initiatives promoted by the Single Guarantee Committee (CUG): the inauguration of the aid of Iris Barbate (collezione Luigi Mostosi) in memory of Paola Mostosi, graduated in Economics at the University of Bergamo, and the event of deepening “The female condition in the contexts of war”, hosted in the Hall Galeotti of the Campus of Via dei Caniana.

At 13.30, in the Ferri Gardens of the Economic Campus-Giuridico, the planting and the inauguration of the aiuola “Una Iris not to forget”, an initiative realized in collaboration with the Association Le Iris of Trebecco. The inauguration saw the interventions of Rector Sergio Cavalieri, Cristina Mostosi, President of the Association Le Iris of Trebecco, and Annalisa Cristini, Prorettrice with delegation to Welfare and Sustainable Development. Giovanna Galizzi, Delegata del Rettore alle Politiche di Genere, Michela Pilot, Managing Director of the University, Roberta Di Pasquale, President of the Single Guarantee Committee, Nicoletta Parvis, Counsellor of Trust, and Giorgia Morotti, President of the Student and Student Consultation.

The initiative is part of the national botanical project promoted by the Associazione Le Iris di Trebecco, which invites Italian municipalities, institutions and institutions to plant flower beds accompanied by a commemorative plaque to raise awareness about the contrast to gender violence and the importance of respect in relationships. At 14.30, in the Hall Galeotti, the meeting “The female condition in the contexts of war”, moderated by Giuseppe Ruscica, member of the Single Guarantee Committee. After the institutional greetings of Annalisa Cristini, Giovanna Galizzi and Michela Pilot, the opening of the works was entrusted to Roberta Di Pasquale, President of CUG.

The intervention of Asmae Dachan, a professional journalist, Italian-Syrian poet and writer, focused on the contribution of women in the war contexts, told through their forms of activism and resistance. To follow, Irina Lenzi, of the Association D.i.Re – Women on the Net against Violence, addressed the issue of invisible violence against refugee women and asylum seekers, underlining the importance of recognition and awareness of the phenomenon.

The intervention of Rosa Vinciguerra, Lieutenant Colonel of the Staff of Defense, highlighted the role of female military personnel in areas affected by armed conflicts and humanitarian crises, highlighting the support offered to women victims of violence in war contexts.

The conclusion of the work was curated by Nicoletta Parvis, Councillor of Trust of the University of Bergamo. During the meeting, the CUG officially started the accession of the University to the “Posto occupied” campaign, symbolically reserving a session of the Hall Galeotti to women victims of feminism. The whole day also marked the accession of the Committee to the United Nations “UNiTE Orange the World 2025” campaign, dedicated to the contrast of digital gender violence.
